Melissa is an experimental photographic artist based in Aotearoa New Zealand, working under the name Inviting Chance. With nearly forty years of image-making across both analogue and digital photography, her recent work returns to cameraless and analogue processes, lumen printing, film soup, and embroidery on found photographs.

Her practice is concerned with what lies beneath the surface: of materials, of memory, of the self. Working slowly and intuitively, Melissa allows light, chemistry, water, thread, and time to act as collaborators, trusting chance and material behaviour to shape the final image.

Melissa is currently completing a Diploma in Experimental Photography through Agora, School of Experimentation in Barcelona
